Jane has been working for the Society since early 2014, first starting as part of the Community Team as the Day Centre Co-ordinator.
In May 2015 Jane took on the role of Operations Director and is now responsible for the running of the Charity.
‘Over the past 5 years EYECAN has grown, changed and expanded, reflecting that our sight impaired clients are at the heart of all we do. We continually adjust our services and support to meet the needs of our clients.
Our strategy includes raising public awareness of sight loss; promoting understanding of the issues faced by Islanders with impaired sight on a daily basis. This is an area of our work which we wish to build on.
Throughout lockdown, the wellbeing of our clients was of huge concern to us and services were adjusted to provide the best possible support. During this time we took advantage of the closure of our base in St Martin to carry out extensive renovations, ensuring the Centre meets the needs of our clients. New lighting, heating and flooring have been installed throughout the building, with updated décor providing colour contrast to support independent navigation. Westlea Centre now demonstrates just what can be achieved through adaptions to ensure accessibility for visitors with sight loss.”
Jane takes great pride in working for one of Jersey’s oldest, and leading charities and is full of praise for EYECAN’s dedicated Community and Administration Teams, who support members in all areas of their lives.
“I am very proud to be part of this fantastic team.”
