JOB TITLE: Co-ordinator

REPORTING TO: Operations Director

JOB PURPOSE:

    • To manage and organise the weekly Social Club, Art & Craft Club and events for visually impaired groups, both adults and children
    • To undertake risk assessments to manage and minimise safety risk to clients, employees, volunteers and members of the public that take part in any activities at Westlea or trips outside of the centre
    • To oversee the serving of lunches and assist where necessary
    • To set up and appropriately resource the activity rooms in order that Clubs run smoothly and successfully
    • To clear up after all activities
    • To ensure that all members are safely transferred to and from Clubs and events
    • To report any concerns for our clients safety or wellbeing to your line manager
    • To manage volunteers that are rostered on to assist at Clubs and events, and report any concerns to your line manager
    • To perform some basic administrative tasks such as sending emails, drafting letters and maintaining activity records
    • To manage the stock of art and activity items and order supplies when necessary
    • To implement any new activities (following consultation with your line manager) and support existing activities
    • To drive our minibus when necessary
    • To manage ad-hoc projects as they arise

Management of activities and events that support and engage community members with visual impairments

    • To develop and maintain good relations with the team and the Society as a whole
    • To work with little supervision and using own initiative and creativity
    • To maintain a friendly and empathetic nature to support clients
    • To develop and maintain strong interactive skills and be able to relate with people of all ages and from all groups of society
    • As this is an evolving role, the duties and hours of work may evolve in the future, therefore the employee should be flexible and adaptable to change, with a pro-active approach to development

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

No specific qualifications are required for this role

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE 

    • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
    • Demonstration of basic computer skills, mainly in Outlook and Word
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Possess good time management skills and a strong attention to detail
    • Health & Safety awareness
    • Clean valid Jersey driver’s licence
