Accessibility

Working with the community to make Jersey more accessible.

Focus Groups:

EYECAN sits on relevant Partnership Boards and focus groups to ensure that awareness of the accessibility needs of Islanders with sight loss are represented in various contexts. EYECAN clients are also supported to attend focus groups and consultations and to complete surveys.

EYECAN always endeavours to connect with Government developments whenever the needs of our client group should be considered. Because EYECAN’s profile is increasingly more prominent, the Government now often comes to us for information which ensures that the accessibility needs of Islanders with sight loss are considered in new developments.

Audits of premises and services:

EYECAN often supports Liberate Accès on audits of premises and services throughout the Island. Discrimination (Disability) (Jersey) Regulations 2018 require services and businesses to make reasonable adjustments to support accessibility. The audit provides recommendations and guidance on how to achieve the changes required.
