Supporting you to explain what you need to people who can help.
Requesting improvements:
If you are aware of something which needs changing to improve accessibility, for example; problems with pavements, crossings, Government notices and letters, or staff attitudes, EYECAN can champion these issues on your behalf or help you to contact the right party and put your comments to them directly. EYECAN can also help by scribing or drafting letters of complaint at your direction, or letters of thanks for good service you’ve received.
Confidence at appointments:
Do you worry that you won’t be able to ask all the questions you want answered, or remember the answers you receive? EYECAN’s Advocacy Officer can support you at appointments by ensuring your pre-agreed questions are asked and the answers you receive are recorded in a format you can access.
Partnership Board:
The Sight Impaired Partnership Board is attended and facilitated by EYECAN. Professionals providing various support services for Islanders with sight loss, and some EYECAN clients, attend the Board to share expertise and experience to help shape and influence service development and delivery in Jersey.
