Jersey Employment Trust (JET):
JET supports clients with a wide range of disabilities, mental health conditions and long-term health conditions, within their Training and Development Service and Employment Service. Through building strong relationships with local employers and other charities in the Island, they provide a bespoke job-matching service to both their clients and local industry. Access to Work Grant:
The Access to Work Grant aims to support you if you need aids or equipment to help you start work, return to work, or remain in work. Please see https://www.gov.je/Benefits/Grants/IndustryGrants/Pages/AccessToWork.aspx
Housing:
Affordable Housing Gateway is the pathway to social housing providers. EYECAN can support you to obtain the accommodation you need and advise specifications which support tenants with sight loss. Health and Community Services support:
EYECAN can make a referral on your behalf, however you can also contact Single Point of Referral (SPOR) directly for support. (Tel: 01534 444440 / Email: SPOR@health.gov.je)
Bus concessions:
EYECAN can endorse your application for a Libertybus Avanchi Access+ Card (free travel for Islanders whose disability prevents them from driving and a carer / companion). Also available: Libertybus Accessibility card (to discreetly advise drivers of passenger support needed).
TV licence:
If you are registered blind (severely sight impaired) you are entitled to a “blind concession TV Licence” of 50% off the cost of your TV Licence. EYECAN can assist with your application. See https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/pay-for-your-tv-licence/blind/index.app.
Call and Check:
Call & Check, which is delivered in partnership with Jersey Post, Parish community volunteer groups and some charitable organisations, is part of a community scheme to support any vulnerable Islander who would benefit from wellbeing checks and regular contact.
