EYECAN appoints new Chief Executive Officer Mark Coxshall

EYECAN is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer Mark Coxshall. The appointment follows the continued development of one of Jersey’s oldest charities. Formed in 1886 and formerly known as the Jersey Blind Society, EYECAN is the only charity locally to support islanders who are visually impaired.

A former Detective Chief Inspector with the States of Jersey Police for 30 years, Mark brings with him a wealth of experience having led teams across most areas of policing. This includes Uniform Operations, Criminal Investigation Department, Public Protection, Force Intelligence Bureau and Community Policing. Mark also has a substantial background in Financial Crime and has spent the last 14 months working as the Head of Financial Crime Coordination with the Jersey Financial Services Commission in its preparations for the forthcoming Moneyval review on the island’s response to financial crime.

Whilst leading the Community Policing Team, Mark was responsible for the development of initiatives to establish the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and representing the police in the development of work to improve the island’s response to mental health strategy and crisis intervention.

Mark was the former policing lead for engaging disabilities and formed partnerships with a number of local charities and public and private organisations to develop an understanding and inclusive interaction with all elements of policing. This included securing a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Guide Dogs UK in the Southwest.

Mark has an absolute passion for helping people and developing partnerships. With personal experiences of living with and supporting those with disabilities, the role presents an opportunity to bring his past skills to further develop the future progress of EYECAN.

Mark is married to Emma and they have a daughter Chloë. Mark is a keen runner, enjoys paddle boarding and playing golf. He said, “I am delighted to be joining this committed team who work hard to support members of our community to live their fullest life. I am looking forward to working hard and further developing this fantastic charity”.

Ed Daubeney, President of EYECAN said “We are delighted to have appointed someone of Mark’s calibre to the team.  Mark’s extensive experience across a range of sectors will enable us to drive the charity forward in a very positive and dynamic way”.
