For some time now, EYECAN have been working closely with the States Greffe, who have been working hard to ensure islanders living with sight loss had access the recent election materials.
For this year’s Democracy Week (19th – 26th September) The States Greffe and the new States Assembly are inviting all islanders to connect with their newly elected representatives and engage with island politics, with this year’s ‘Meet the Member’.

DEMOCRACY CAFÉ: Join the Conversation: Tuesday 22 September, 10:00am – 11:30am
The Salvation Army Community Café, Minden Street, St Helier
Take the opportunity during Jersey’s Democracy Week to meet and chat with some of your newly elected States Members at the warm and inviting Salvation Army Community Café.
Enjoy a cuppa and a chat with Jersey’s decision makers. Get to know the people behind the politicians and share your views and hopes for Island life in this friendly and informal session.

DEMOCRACY ON THE MOVE: St Ouen Stroll and Sip, Friday 25 September, 10:00am – 11:30am

Take the opportunity during Jersey’s Democracy Week to meet and chat with some of your newly elected States Members in the glorious setting of St Ouen’s Bay.
Get to know the people behind the politicians on a guided circular stroll from Jersey Pearl (10:00am – 10.45am) and enjoy a cuppa and a chat back at the Café (10.45am – 11:00am.
Share your views and hopes for Island life with Jersey’s decision makers at this friendly and informal event.

DEMOCRACY WEEK: Free Public Tours of the States Chamber – Tuesday 22 September & Thursday 24th September 12pm – 1pm
Want to understand more about Jersey’s political system and how it works?
Members of the public are invited to a free guided tour of the States Chamber, offering an exciting opportunity to explore the heart of Jersey’s democracy.
This informative behind-the-scenes tour will enable you to discover how our elected parliament works, the history that shaped it and how decisions are made that impact everyday life in our Island.
With a newly elected States Assembly, this is the perfect time to learn more. There is an opportunity to meet some States Members, sit in the Bailiff’s chair, use the voting buttons and see the Royal Mace!
The tour is an hour long, with the opportunity to ask questions throughout. Participants will meet outside the States Members’ entrance of the States Assembly building in the Royal Square just before 12:00pm.
